IO Partners with Active Power for Enhancements to Data Infrastructure
By Raju Shanbhag TMCnet Contributor
Active Power has entered into a partnership with IO to integrate Active Power's PowerHouse and CleanSource (News - Alert) UPS product portfolio.
IO is changing enterprise data center complexity into a simplified plug-and-play capacity delivery model of quick assembly, lights-out automation, and best-in-class efficiency. The company has named this strategy "Intelligent Control" of its data center.
When it comes to data center infrastructure management (DCIM), IO has created the world's first data center operating system.
This partnership will help users of Active Power to make use of the IO.OS software platform as part of the continuous power solutions. IO.OS is a data center operating system that provides IT and data center professionals a complete view of the physical infrastructure layer.
This layer is required to enhance availability and efficiency across the IT infrastructure.
With this agreement, Active Power receives the IO.OS software for its UPS product portfolio, as well as for its joint sales and marketing. IO will also get Active Power products and technology for use in its modular data center products.
“PowerHouse provides a cost-effective and fast-to-deploy solution for the critical power infrastructure of a data center," said Doug Milner, president and CEO at Active Power. "By integrating IO.OS into PowerHouse, we are wrapping software tools around the infrastructure to reduce complexity and provide customers more useful analytics to make intelligent decisions so they can achieve their availability, efficiency, and sustainability goals.”
Recently, ARM (News
- Alert), a United Kingdom-based semiconductor and software design firm, installed and operated one of the company’s PowerHouse modules at ARM's EUHPC (high performance compute) data center in Cambridge, England. In this project, 2bm Ltd served as the turnkey design and build provider and Active Power's customer.
Active Power offered all important power equipment in two purpose-built enclosures via its PowerHouse platform, to meet ARM's limited available build space and aggressive deployment schedule.
