Giving Thanks to the Data Center: 17 Things to Be Thankful For This Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving marks the start to the holiday season, commencing a crazy time of the year for family visits, holiday parties, gift shopping and exchanging and ringing in a new year. Before we get ahead of ourselves and fast-forward to the holidays, let’s take the time to pause and give thanks this Thanksgiving.
With so many advancements in technology that allow a multitude of companies to function every day and in the spirit of the holiday, we talked to Server Technology (News - Alert) (News - Alert), a provider of data center power management and monitoring solutions, to take a step back and appreciate the centers that store, manage and protect data.

- Scooters, mini-bikes, chairs with wheels, or any other device that allows one to relive childhood experiences while hastily getting around.
- Random Snickers or Milky Way bars accidentally misplaced by the staff.
- Dozens of unique tools you have never seen before and have no idea how they are used.
- Hundreds of CDU lights reminding one of Christmas time.
- Staff that haven’t been to the exposed to the sun for several days and are very excited to see you.
- Symmetry.
- Standards-based computing.
- Wireless Interoperability.
- Deep racks.
In reality, data centers and data center power are an important part of our lives, whether you realize it or not. Keeping data centers up and running ensure company productivity, network operability, customer happiness and successful communication. So as you are gathering with family and friends this holiday weekend, make an extra note to be thankful for real-time monitoring and that you are able to spend time with loved ones instead of trying to keep data centers running smoothly.
